Multiple evening shift schedules are available.
location:
Saint Louis, Missouri job type: Contract salary: $19 - 20 per hour work hours: 3 to 11 education: High School responsibilities: Prepare food, ingredient, and environmental samples for indicator organisms and pathogen testing using strict aseptic techniques. Prepare and monitor culture media, reagents, and laboratory equipment to ensure full operational readiness. Perform routine quality control checks, including incubator temperature tracking and control organism inoculations. Execute laboratory maintenance, biohazard waste disposal, sanitization, and consumable inventory tracking. Maintain complete, traceable laboratory documentation while adhering to ISO guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Escalate testing deviations and non-conformances promptly to laboratory management.
qualifications:
Required:
Associate degree in Life Sciences OR a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience. Fundamental understanding of microbiology laboratory practices and safety protocols. Demonstrated ability to strictly adhere to written SOPs in a regulated testing environment. Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety awareness. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related life science field. Prior microbiological testing experience in a food, beverage, or commercial testing laboratory.
