The Seibold Laboratory is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Postgraduate Scholar to join our team. The Seibold Lab is a multidisciplinary research group focused on defining the molecular, cellular, genetic, and environmental mechanisms underlying asthma and other complex airway and allergic diseases. The laboratory integrates airway biology, immunology, genomics, computational biology, and translational human studies, with close collaboration among experimental scientists, clinicians, computational biologists, and statistical geneticists. In this position, the successful candidate will work within the PRIMERO Birth Cohort Study ( https://primerobirthcohort.com ), an NIH-funded longitudinal study designed to investigate the early-life origins of childhood asthma. PRIMERO follows children from birth through childhood and combines serial airway sampling, respiratory illness surveillance, lung-function testing, molecular profiling, and detailed clinical phenotyping. The project seeks to define longitudinal airway expression and cellular patterns associated with asthma development and to identify inflammatory endotypes and biological mechanisms that emerge during early life in children who will develop asthma. The candidate will lead multidisciplinary projects and publications that integrate complex genomic, transcriptomic, cellular, clinical, and functional data to better define mechanisms of asthma development and pathobiology. They will be directly involved in both the laboratory generation and computational analysis of these data, including studies using in vitro airway epithelial and organoid models to test mechanistic hypotheses arising from the cohort. The position is well suited for a scientist interested in computational biology, biostatistics, airway biology, and translational disease mechanisms. The position is 100% onsite. A cover letter is required for application review. Position Summary The Postgraduate Research Scholar is a temporary, defined period of mentored advanced training. Postgraduate Research Scholars will focus on enhancing their professional skills and research independence under the mentorship of a Principal Investigator. The training program length is a maximum of five years. Essential Duties Performs, on a very independent basis, all phases of experimental investigations, including being responsible to the Principal Investigator in the planning, developing, operating, recording, collaborating, and reporting of major projects. Collaborates with Principal Investigators and senior researchers in the progress of major research projects. Provides guidance to laboratory staff in one or more laboratory areas, including technicians, support, and auxiliary staff. Performs as the technical advisor on techniques involving complex analyses utilizing highly sophisticated techniques. Serves as primary contact with researcher staff for technical services on major techniques, recording devices, and statistical procedures relative to the specifically assigned field. Reviews quality control of new or modified laboratory techniques that affect any part of major projects. Performs routine and non-routine tests leading to the successful completion of developed experiments. Knows and follows age-specific guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

MD or PhD in biology, chemistry or other basic sciences required.

Work Experience:

A minimum of three years of specified experience in technical investigatory techniques during graduate or doctoral training program.

Salary Range:
