Section Chief of Embryology/Genetics Niazee College of Osteopathic Medicine (NCOM) is a mission-driven, nonprofitosteopathic medical school advancing a community-centered, whole-person approach to healthcare education. The Section Chief ofEmbryology/Genetics provides academic, administrative, and educational leadership for embryology and genetics instruction across allfour (4) years of the NCOM curriculum. The Section Chief ensures embryology and genetics content is vertically integrated, clinicallyrelevant, student-centered, and aligned with NCOM's mission and COCA accreditation standards. This role supports NCOM's commitmentto educating osteopathic physicians with a strong foundation in human development, inheritance, and genomic principles essential to clinicalreasoning, diagnosis, and patient care. The Section Chief plays a critical role in curriculum development/delivery, faculty oversight,instructional quality, student assessment, accreditation alignment, and scholarly activity, contributing directly to academic excellence andinstitutional readiness. To succeed as the Section Chief ofEmbryology/Genetics, you should have:

Knowledge, Skill and Experience Terminal Degree:

PhD, DO, MD, orequivalent in Embryology, Genetics, Genomics, Developmental Biology, or related discipline Minimum of three (3) years of experiencein academic medicine or higher education (osteopathic preferred) Demonstrated experience teaching embryology and/or genetics in amedical or health sciences program Knowledge of curriculum design, assessment, accreditation, and educationalresearch Demonstrated excellence in modern instructional methods (TBL, PBL, flipped classroom) Competence in research andscholarly activity Prior leadership experience preferred Competencies AnalyticalSkills Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills Superior decision-making ability Strongorganizational skills Flexibility and adaptability Ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships Ability towork in a dynamic, evolving academic environment Ability to collaborate and lead within interdisciplinary teams Basiccomputer & technology skills Your responsibilities as the Section Chief of Embryology/Genetics will include: Actively promote participation of embryology and genetics faculty in the teaching of osteopathic medical students at alllevels Provide leadership and oversight for embryology, genetics, and related foundational science instruction as defined by thecurriculum Ensure embryology and genetics courses are well organized, educationally rigorous, and aligned with defined learningobjectives and outcomes Coordinate with the Chair of Foundational Sciences to ensure integration with anatomy, histology, pathology,biochemistry/physiology, and clinical sciences Participate in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of theintegrated curriculum Ensure content reflects current scientific knowledge, including clinically relevant genomics and developmentalbiology Promote clinical correlation, including congenital anomalies, genetic disorders, screening, and interpretation of geneticinformation Participate in evaluation and assessment processes and assign final grades Monitor student performance andprovide academic support or intervention when necessary Recruit, mentor, and evaluate embryology and geneticsfaculty Promote faculty development and scholarly activity within the embryology/genetics disciplines Ensure compliance withCOCA accreditation standards and institutional policies Serve on institutional committees as assigned Establish and maintainprofessional relationships with academic peers and relevant professional organizations About Us At the Niazee College of Osteopathic Medicine (NCOM) , we're building a transformational, community-centered medical school grounded inosteopathic principles and whole-person care.
