Your role MilliporeSigma is looking for an Associate Scientist to join the Process Solutions Innovation to support the mammalian cell culture applications lab. By performing routine tasks for daily lab management and operations, the candidate will contribute to efficient experimental and project execution. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, vendor management experience, mammalian cell culture experience, bioreactor set up & operation experience, equipment maintenance & troubleshooting skills, and an understanding of EH&S requirements. This full-time on-site position will be based at our Bedford, MA campus. Key Responsibilities Support lab management activities for multiple labs within the team, attending regular Lab Manager meetings, communicate key learnings/updates back to team, and implement new solutions/policies Execute CHO fed-batch bioreactor processes with single-use bioreactors at 3L, 50L, and 200L scale Maintain records for equipment maintenance and SOPs Work with EHS to maintain compliance with health and safety requirements Attention to detail & strong organization skills (optimize lab layout, inventory management, equipment coordination, etc.) Ensure availability of lab supplies, order supplies as required Prepare components for lab experiments such as cell culture media, tubing and filter assemblies, and bioreactor components Communicate with and ship inventory to vendors Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree with 0-2 years relevant experience Strong work ethic that enables independent work with minimal guidance (after onboarding/training period) Effective oral and written communication skills Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to lift 50 pounds (~3-4 feet off the ground)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering field with 0-2 years relevant experience Mammalian cell culture skills & experience (shake flask, aseptic technique, biosafety cabinet, media preparation/hydration, etc.) Bioreactor skills & experience (probe calibrations, autoclave, set up, DeltaV controls, etc.) Clarification (filtration-based cell separation) at conclusion of bioreactor runs Familiarity with scientific laboratory practices, equipment, and materials Experience with vendor management, equipment maintenance, and ordering of supplies Lab management experience What we offer: With us, there are always opportunities to break new ground.
