Professor Mirkin's research lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying the instability of DNA repeats implicated in hereditary human diseases and cancer.
What You'll Do:
Works in collaboration with the senior investigator in the host laboratory. Works independently to participate in or lead a portion of research projects involving the analysis of complex genomic databases and genome-wide analysis of experimental data generated in the lab. The Scientist II contributes ideas and suggestions to the research effort, operates independently, and publishes papers in collaboration with the senior investigator. This individual may have other responsibilities in the laboratory, such as supervising staff, training graduate students or postdoctoral fellows, writing grant proposals, and writing papers. Perform scientific research as a professionally responsible member of the research team. Carries out independent research and may lead a portion of the project. Is responsible for problem exploration and definition, planning of the approach and sequence of steps, execution of experiments or studies, interpretation of findings, and documentation of results and may lead others in this effort. Keeps current with developments in the scientific field. Publish results and author papers in collaboration with the senior investigator. Present findings at meetings. Submit a grant proposal pertinent to the research. Participates in other laboratory responsibilities such as supervision and/or training of research technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows; development of grant proposals; etc.

Knowledge and experience typically acquired by: PhD 1+ years experience in a postdoctoral research position
Salary Range:
Minimum $81,200.00, Midpoint $101,600.00, Maximum $120,900.00
