The candidate will support research efforts related to artificial intelligence methods development, origins of life research, evolutionary biology, and computational biology. The candidate will support these efforts by devising, implementing, and executing computational experiments; contributing to code repositories of the research group; and collaborating with students, postdoctoral associates, and other members of the research group in advancing the field of inquiry. Elements of the experimental approach will include: artificial intelligence (AI) approaches (including CNN and transformer architectures), determination of optimal embeddings and encodings for protein structures, multiple alignment methods, Bayesian dendrogram reconstructions, and benchmarking including jackknife resampling.
