Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented District Technician to join our environmental and natural resource management team. In this vital role, you will conduct field surveys, collect and analyze ecological data, and support conservation projects across multiple sites within your district. Your expertise will help ensure compliance with environmental regulations, facilitate ecological restoration efforts, and promote sustainable land management practices. Duties Perform comprehensive field surveys including wetland delineation, plant identification, and habitat assessments using GPS navigation and mapping software such as ArcGIS. Collect, record, and analyze ecological data related to forestry, invasive plant management, and natural resource conditions. Assist with environmental permitting processes by preparing technical reports and supporting documentation aligned with environmental laws and regulations. Conduct invasive species control activities and support ecological restoration projects through planting, tree care, and habitat enhancement efforts. Utilize GIS tools to create detailed maps, analyze spatial data, and support project planning and implementation. Support research initiatives by gathering field data, performing analysis, and documenting findings in clear technical reports. Ensure compliance with environmental policies by monitoring project sites for environmental law adherence and reporting any issues or violations. Requirements Demonstrated experience or education in horticulture, forestry, ecology, or related fields such as agriculture or dendrology. Proficiency in GPS navigation devices, GIS software (including ArcGIS), mapping software, and Microsoft Office Suite for data management and reporting. Strong outdoor work experience with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, wetland delineation procedures, and ecological restoration techniques. Excellent analysis skills for data collection, research interpretation, and technical report writing. Familiarity with invasive plant management strategies and environmental compliance standards.
