Scientific Director, Ectoderm

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Scientific Director will lead the development and optimization of novel protocols for directed differentiation of cells of ectodermal lineages. Working with the Research and Development (R&D) department and reporting to the VP of R&D, this role requires an innovative and strategic thinker with a strong background in developmental biology and stem cell culture. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects and a team of researchers, ensuring they meet timeline, budget, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Lead the design, execution, and optimization of experiments to develop differentiation protocols for various neuronal cell types Stress-test and troubleshoot workflows to robustly generate specialized cell types Rigorous design validation and reporting to support technology transfer Strategic planning and resource allocation to ensure smooth execution of projects Lead a team of Scientists and Research Associates to accomplish goals, mentor team members and foster professional growth Cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality control, marketing and legal departments Prepare and present findings to relevant internal and external stakeholders Stay up to date on state-of-the-art technologies and trends in the field and uphold internal quality standards Qualifications PhD in a relevant field plus a minimum of 5-7 years of experience Expertise in human pluripotent stem cell culture and ectodermal differentiation Experience with molecular and cellular assays such as immunocytochemistry, qPCR, flow cytometry and ELISA Experience with developing and launching RUO products according to
ISO 9001
Excellent communication skills Good documentation practice Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
