As a Chemical Handling Technician, you will be assigned a variety of tasks, including but not limited to transfer of materials onsite to maintain inventory in active lab and production facilities, transfer of waste materials in accordance with facility/site policies, maintenance and cleaning of chemical processing equipment, general facility maintenance, and responsibility for maintaining PPE inventory in all active facilities. Assignments will vary any given week, so expect that while you will certainly have core responsibilities to own, there will be a steady introduction of new tasks and responsibilities as your experience grows and the site capabilities increases. Strong communication skills are certainly required as you will interface directly with other technicians, engineers, chemists, production/operations and safety personnel. You will also assist with prepping the raw materials for use, assisting in the weigh-up for mixes, and conducting full mixes.
Musts:
2+ years of related experience working in chemical handling/process environments. H.S. diploma Demonstrated experience with common computer software such MS Outlook, Word and Excel Willing and able to work with hazardous chemicals Willing to conduct operations lasting 5+ hours on your feet Willing to clean lab equipment Willing to follow procedures and document results in web-based applications Must be able to lift 75 pounds as this is a labor intensive position. Good-to-Have Hands-on mechanical aptitude Experience operating and maintaining lab equipment Familiar with basic fabrication techniques: machining, welding, etc. Experience using
CAD:
models, drawings, BOM, etc. OK with periodic repetitive tasks
