Process Chemist

Job Description

Summary:
Process Chemist is responsible for the scale up lab of R&D projects into manufacturing and optimizing processes in the chemical manufacturing facility. This role will work to evaluate chemistries and improve them as well as transition new products to the manufacturing and quality control team.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Synthesize esters on lab scale, lab scale analysis, testing and implementation of process in scale up format in Milledgeville reactors Process improvement using detailed chemistry/chemical analysis, catalyst assessment, process parameter assessment Develop operating procedures for manufacturing Evaluate and implement new test methods including training of chemist, analysts, engineers, and other affected employees Utilize instrumentation such as ICP, GCMS and NIR to analyze products Detailed knowledge of lab instrumentation is preferred Reduce cycle times by working closely with process engineer Perform laboratory work in an accurate and independent manner Evaluate processes via SPC charts, develop SPC and SQC charts for product parameters Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of raw material, in-process material, and finished products Adhere to the guidelines set forth by Zschimmer and Schwarz. This includes safety, professionalism, and corporate procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in Chemistry from an accredited college/university Working knowledge of organic chemistry and math. Good written and verbal skills. Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
