Job Description

In addition to our B2B services, our branded products, led by our flagship Nature's Answer® brand, are carried in retail stores throughout the U.S. and internationally. Under the direction of the R&D Manager, the R&D Chemist will develop new formulations and products, including researching and selecting raw materials, creating formulas that comply to all project and GMP guidelines, and developing all required documentation. This role interfaces closely with other departments including Manufacturing, Packaging, QC, Quality, Warehouse and Distribution. Keep abreast of new and innovative products on the market. Review professional journals and scientific papers concerning health issues, raw materials, processing methods and quality. Develop new product formulations and extracts and improve existing formulas based on project requirements. Prepare supporting documentation for new products including Supplement Facts Box, Costings, and Product Specifications. Research and select new raw materials. Ensure the proper implementation of new products from the bench-top to production scale. Maintain laboratory notebook. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with company policies and procedures and maintains regular work attendance. Follow SOPs, cGMP, Quality, Safety Rules, and Food Safety and Food Defense practices.
Education and Experience:
BS in chemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline required. Experience in pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, or food manufacturing and formulation preferred. Organized, ability to produce high-quality documentation and large volume of output. Good interpersonal and communications skills, able to work in a cooperative environment.
