KLTR Manufacturing LLC About the Role KLTR Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Beverage Formulation Scientist to join our team and lead the development of functional beverages from concept through commercial production. We are specifically looking for someone with hands-on beverage formulation experience who can independently develop, test, troubleshoot, and refine formulas. Our current focus includes sugar-free carbonated energy and functional beverages with unique flavor profiles. Responsibilities Develop beverage formulas from concept to finished product Formulate sugar-free carbonated and functional beverages Work with flavors, sweeteners, acids, functional ingredients, preservatives, and other beverage ingredients Conduct bench-top trials and prepare samples for taste testing Adjust formulas for flavor, sweetness, acidity, mouthfeel, color, and overall sensory experience Troubleshoot issues such as bitterness, aftertaste, ingredient interactions, solubility, and stability Develop formulas that can successfully transition from lab scale to commercial production Create and maintain accurate formulas, specifications, procedures, and R D documentation Work directly with flavor houses and ingredient suppliers Support shelf-life, stability, and product testing Collaborate with our manufacturing team during scale-up and production trials Help ensure formulations meet applicable food safety and regulatory requirements Qualifications Degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related field preferred Previous professional experience developing beverages is strongly preferred Experience with carbonated beverages, energy drinks, functional beverages, or similar products Strong understanding of beverage formulation, including sweetener systems, acids, flavors, preservatives, and functional ingredients Experience taking a beverage from bench-top formulation through scale-up is highly preferred Comfortable working hands-on in an R D and manufacturing environment Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail What We're Looking For We want someone who is creative but also highly technical. The right candidate should be comfortable receiving a product concept or flavor direction and independently turning it into a commercially viable beverage. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to play a major part in developing new products as our company grows.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with startups, providing guidance when needed, troubleshooting formulation challenges, and helping us make informed decisions as we move toward commercialization. Responsibilities Develop and refine beverage formulations. Research and recommend functional ingredients. Advise on ingredient interactions, stability, and shelf life. Assist with flavor development and optimization. Recommend ingredient suppliers and flavor houses. Provide guidance on FDA regulations, labeling, and product compliance. Assist with manufacturing scale-up and co-packer communication. Be available to answer technical questions and provide consulting support throughout product development. Participate in meetings or calls as needed to review progress and recommend next steps. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. Experience developing beverage products, preferably functional beverages or energy drinks. Strong understanding of food chemistry, ingredient functionality, and flavor systems. Experience working with ingredients such as natural caffeine, vitamins, amino acids, sweeteners, adaptogens, electrolytes, or botanical extracts. Knowledge of product stability, shelf life, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements. Previous experience working with startups or bringing products from concept to commercialization is highly preferred. Compensation This is a flexible consulting opportunity. Compensation will be based on experience and may be structured as an hourly consulting rate or on a project basis. We anticipate an ongoing relationship where the consultant is available as needed rather than working a fixed schedule.
