Clinical Research Associate (Must have oncology experience) Job Description This Clinical Research Associate role focuses on data management and clinic coordination for oncology clinical trials, with a balanced mix of patient-facing responsibilities and data-focused tasks. The position supports the full lifecycle of clinical studies by conducting pre-screening, recruitment, consenting, specimen coordination, and follow-up activities, while collaborating closely with physicians and research staff. The role requires frequent use of electronic data capture systems and clinical platforms such as EPIC, and offers opportunities for professional growth through ongoing training. Responsibilities Coordinate day-to-day activities for oncology clinical trials, focusing on both data management and clinic operations. Conduct chart reviews and pre-screen patients to identify eligible participants for oncology clinical trials. Recruit and consent patients for clinical studies, joining the physician during visits to support the informed consent process. Coordinate specimen collection for clinical trials, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and tracking in alignment with study protocols. Perform follow-up activities with study participants, maintaining accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions. Enter and manage study data in electronic data capture (EDC) systems and other clinical databases, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with study requirements. Work extensively within EPIC and other clinical or research systems to document patient information and trial-related data. Participate in regular meetings, dedicating approximately 1020% of working time to study-related discussions, updates, and team coordination. Split remaining time evenly between data-focused tasks and direct patient interaction to support both operational and clinical aspects of the trials. Collaborate closely with a research nurse and another research assistant to ensure smooth execution of all study-related activities. Engage in ongoing training and development to expand knowledge of clinical research processes, systems, and oncology trials. Essential Skills At least 1 year of clinical research experience, including hands-on involvement with clinical trials in oncology. Experience with clinical trial workflows, including pre-screening, recruitment, consenting, and follow-up of study participants. Proficiency in chart review to identify and assess potential candidates for oncology clinical trials. Demonstrated experience in data entry and data management within clinical research settings. Familiarity with electronic data capture (EDC) systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to a variety of platforms. Experience working within clinical systems such as EPIC or similar electronic medical record platforms. Understanding of clinical research practices, including coordination of specimen collection and documentation of patient interactions. Ability to balance patient-facing responsibilities with detailed data management tasks. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience supporting oncology research in a clinical setting. Demonstrated ability to learn new software systems and adapt to multiple EDC platforms. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary clinical teams, including physicians, research nurses, and research assistants. Interest in professional development and willingness to participate in ongoing training and growth opportunities related to clinical research. Work Environment The role is primarily based at a cancer center in Novi, where the Clinical Research Associate will spend the majority of their time. There may be occasional travel to additional cancer center locations, such as Southfield or a downtown site, with mileage reimbursement provided for these trips. The associate will work closely with a research nurse and another research assistant, and will also connect regularly with colleagues at another location through daily huddles. The work environment is clinical and research-focused, with frequent use of EPIC and various electronic data capture systems to support oncology trials. The position involves a mix of office-based data work and direct interaction with patients in a clinical setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Novi, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
