It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 41.7 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. The current estimated population is 126,414, yet Simi Valley maintains a unique balance of open space and City amenities. Outdoor Recreation Over a dozen beautiful parks, camping and picnic spots, tennis courts, two golf courses, and one of the largest equestrian trail systems in the United States. Description Position Details:
Salary Range:

$97,769.00 - $119,480.00 Annually + Excellent Benefits Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range. Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience.

Status:

Full‑time, Limited-Term (2 years)

Schedule:

9/80 work schedule with alternating Friday off

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or a related field.

Experience:

Three years of increasingly responsible environmental compliance program experience, including some administrative level experience.

Licenses or Certificates:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Grade II Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate within one year. Why Simi Valley? Environmental Compliance Programs Analyst Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

College‑level coursework in environmental science, chemistry, biology, water resource management, or a related field A solid understanding of environmental regulations, including water conservation and efficiency, stormwater, wastewater pretreatment, hazardous materials/waste, and solid waste and recycling Experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local environmental rules, policies, and standards Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical reports Experience responding to water waste, illicit discharge, odor, or hazardous materials complaints in both public and private settings The ability to handle complex, unusual, or sensitive situations with professionalism, tact, and sound judgment A high level of dependability, initiative, and follow‑through, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with City staff, businesses, residents, and partner agencies Strong organizational and analytical skills, including experience with data collection, chain‑of‑custody protocols, and regulatory reporting A positive attitude and eagerness to learn, adapt, and support programs that protect Simi Valley's natural resources
