Job Description

This position will be partially in the office and partially in the field at various project sites. Applicants must reside in Suffolk County, NY. BEC, a fast-paced and growing Environmental Consulting Company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Technician Intern to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in the environmental consulting industry. Ideal candidates are currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field . The Field Technician Intern will assist with field investigations and environmental remediation projects throughout Long Island and the New York City area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat; ability to quickly learn new software applications. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Responsibilities:
Assist with air monitoring and health and safety oversight. Collect soil, groundwater, air, and other environmental samples. Assist with field documentation, record keeping, and report preparation. Support senior staff during environmental investigations and remediation activities. Enter and organize field data using Microsoft Office applications and other company software. Follow company safety procedures and project protocols. Perform both field and office-related tasks as needed. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced environmental professionals on a variety of environmental investigation and remediation projects, with opportunities to develop technical field skills, computer-based documentation and reporting skills, and industry knowledge. $20 per hour.
