C Elliot Transfer Station and Cefe Valenzuela Landfill:
solid waste, hazardous waste, water, wastewater, storm water and air. Responsibilities
  • Collect storm water composite and/ or grab samples for rain events as required by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program
  • Prepare chain of custody and deliver/ send to lab analysis
  • Collect sludge samples for paint filter test compliance
  • Collect samples on any and all applicable media, prepare chain of custody and deliver/ send for lab or field analysis
  • Knowledge of monitoring gas probes on FG well
  • Monitor general landfill over integrity and surface water drainage conditions that might impact operations
  • Monitor integrity of groundwater wells
  • Operate leachate system and communications panels and repair/ replace components when needed
  • Monitor leachate system and communication panels and call for repairs if needed
  • Operate condensate sump pump system and communications panels and repair/ replace components when needed
  • Perform first data scrub to prepare the data for further analysis
  • Operator Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) area directly and/ or through support staff
  • Perform first Hazardous Waste Classification and issue instructions or directly store material
  • Perform first assessment of situation and provide immediate containment and/ or mitigation in preparation for HAZMAT team to arrive on scene
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

  • Friday, 8am
  • 5pm Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

  • Associate's Degree (AA/ AS); or two (2) year technical certificate
  • Two (2) years of experience Licenses and Certifications Required
  • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Required within one (1) year of hire
