Assists Infection Preventionist (IP) with multiple Infection Control surveillance activities and clerical tasks.
GIBSON AREA HOSPITAL & HEALTH SERVICES MISSION STATEMENT

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Performs/manages monthly interdepartmental hand hygiene audits (Safety Culture, secret shopper, security camera review) 2. Manages monthly ATP environmental monitoring, including interdepartmental swabbing and procuring ATP supplies 3. Collates and distributes monthly surgical site infection surveys to GAHHS surgeons 4. Conducts quarterly interdepartmental Infection Control inspections 5. Assists with/manages annual clinic IC audits 6. Completes various clerical tasks as requested by IP 7. Assists in Infection Control processes in compliance with administrative, legal and regulatory requirements 8. Adapts positively to frequent changes and interruptions in workload and/or work schedules. 9. Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements. 10. Complies with the organizational attendance policy and use of the electronic timekeeping system. 11. Utilizes time efficiently and productively to enhance department operations and to ensure department and organization success. 12. Complies with dress code. 13. Maintains confidentiality of staff, patient, and provider information. 14. Completes other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1.
Requires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifts files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. 2. Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks: Floor to waist
30 pounds 14" to waist
40 pounds Waist to shoulder
20 pounds Shoulder to overhead
10 pounds Carry 30 pounds for 30 feet Push 25 pounds/force for 15 feet Pull 25 pounds/force for 15 feet 3.
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type at 40 wpm, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment as necessary. 4. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports directly to the Infection Preventionist
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1.
Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Office Assistant 2. Previous experience in office setting is preferred but not required. 3. Knowledge of medical terminology 4. Knowledge of appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation in correspondence. 5. Computer skills, including adequate knowledge in use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Apple iPad. 6. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. 7. Capability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems (both computer and paper). 8. Interpersonal skills to speak and communicate clearly 9. Skill to deal courteously and professionally with patients, co-workers, and visitors 10. Competent to independently manage tasks which require attention to detail 11. Adaptability and flexibility in managing various assignments and schedule changes
