Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services, the Infection Control Preventionist is responsible for the administration of an effective infection control program in accordance with mandated CDC standards as well as federal and state regulations. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the residents served.

EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Have completed specialized training in Infection Prevention and Control.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five (5) years of medical/surgical experience or long-term care nursing experience required.
SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check. Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners required. CPR Certification required. Interest in epidemiology as displayed by active APIC memberships required. Must maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Allied Services. Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, residents and visitors. Excellent organizational skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sedentary Work :
duties require exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally (approx 10-33% of shift) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (approx 33-66% of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move articles such as files. Position involves bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting (occasionally in strained positions) throughout shift. Ability to transport self throughout facility frequently is required.
ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS
Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and blood/body substances.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a well-lit office environment, as well as resident care/treatment areas.
