We are seeking a smart, driven, creative person to develop our formulations for our release of a new candy brand. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Food Chemist to join our innovativeteam. In this vital role, you will lead efforts in developing, analyzing, and improving food and beverage products to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Your expertise will drive new product formulations, optimize existing recipes, and uphold rigorous quality assurance protocols. Duties Develop and refine new candy formulations through culinary techniques to meet consumer preferences and industry standards. Conduct comprehensive laboratory analyses including microbiology testing, biochemistry assessments, and sensory evaluations to ensure product consistency and safety. Implement and monitor HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) plans, GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards, and other food safety management systems to uphold regulatory compliance. Collect data on product performance, analyze results for root cause analysis, and apply continuous improvement strategies across production processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, packaging, marketing, and regulatory affairs to support product development initiatives. Ensure adherence to FDA regulations, CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), HARPC (Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls), and other legal standards governing food production. Lead efforts in quality control inspections, sanitation procedures, and process validation to maintain the highest level of food safety and quality assurance. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field; advanced degrees preferred. Proven laboratory experience within the food and beverage industry with a focus on microbiology, formulation chemistry, or quality assurance. Strong understanding of food processing techniques, packaging materials, and sensory evaluation methods. Familiarity with FDA regulations, HACCP principles, GFSI standards, and food safety management systems such as HARPC. Experience in new product development (NPD), research & development (R D), and continuous improvement initiatives. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret data accurately for root cause analysis and process optimization. Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of nutrition science, food technology trends, and culinary applications is a plus.
