Job Description

Position Title:
Food Scientist Vantage Specialty Chemicals is seeking a Food Scientist to join our Food R&D team, supporting the development, testing, and optimization of innovative food ingredients and release agents. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with experience in food formulation or ingredient development who is looking to expand their technical expertise in product development, application testing, and manufacturing scale-up. Working closely with R&D, Marketing, Quality, Operations, and Sales, the Food Scientist will contribute to developing ingredient solutions that enhance food products and manufacturing processes while supporting customer applications and technical initiatives. Key Responsibilities Support the development, formulation, and optimization of food ingredients and release agents. Design and execute laboratory experiments, application testing, and product performance evaluations. Assist with formulation scale-up and technology transfer to manufacturing. Conduct stability testing, sensory evaluations, and product compatibility assessments. Analyze experimental data and recommend formulation or process improvements. Prepare technical reports, application guidelines, and product documentation. Partner with cross-functional teams to support customer projects, sample requests, and technical marketing initiatives. Maintain accurate laboratory records while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Candidate Requirements Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field. 2+ years of experience in food formulation, food ingredients, or food manufacturing. Experience with ingredient formulation, laboratory testing, and product development. Knowledge of food ingredient chemistry, formulation techniques, and experimental design. Experience supporting manufacturing scale-up or production processes is preferred. Familiarity with stability testing, sensory evaluation, and food product performance testing. Strong analytical, documentation, and technical communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Authorized to work in the United States. Willingness to travel occasionally and work in both laboratory and manufacturing environments. Pay The estimated base pay range for this position is: $70,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location.
