Job Description

The Laboratory Educator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and delivering education, training, competency assessment, and onboarding programs for laboratory staff, students, and new employees. This position serves as a subject-matter expert and mentor, ensuring all personnel are trained to meet regulatory, accreditation, quality, and operational requirements. The Laboratory Educator functions as a laboratory generalist and must maintain competency across all areas of the clinical laboratory while supporting departmental projects and operational needs as assigned by the Laboratory Director. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS/MT) from an accredited program. Current certification through one of the following: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) AMT (American Medical Technologists) AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) Other nationally recognized laboratory certification agencies as applicable. Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred. Demonstrated competency in all major laboratory disciplines. Required Knowledge and Skills Strong teaching, coaching, and mentoring abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop training materials, competency assessments, and educational programs. Patience and professionalism while working with learners of varying experience levels. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changing departmental needs. Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and laboratory regulatory requirements. Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and computer-based learning systems.
