We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS II) to perform testing across hematology, chemistry, and blood bank while ensuring accurate and timely results.
Schedule Night Shift:

It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Memorial Hospital Shiloh , a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care. The Laboratory Department provides a wide variety of assays and procedures to obtain data used in the diagnosis and treatment of most disease states to our inpatient and out patients. Services include phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, point-of-care and pathology. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good clinical laboratory practice Responsibilities Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results. Trains new laboratory personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area. Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Assesses technical and or instrument problems, including quality control and abnormal findings, evaluate possible solutions and chooses an appropriate course of action to solve the problem. Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats. Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems. Specific quality functions are handled in an organized and timely fashion. Minimum Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree - Physical/Life Science/related Experience
