Job Summary:

The Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Specialist assists in Crisis Cold Weather Shelter planning; recruits, schedules, and trains Crisis Cold Weather Shelter volunteers; and provides operational support to Crisis Cold Weather Shelter leadership and shelter sites. The position is a component of the Ozarks Alliance to End Homelessness (OAEH) and is located at the O'Reilly Center for Hope/New Day.

Evaluation:

The Senior Director of Homeless Services, following adopted policies and practices of Community Partnership of the Ozarks, evaluates the Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Specialist.

Position Requirements:

Bachelors Degree is required; Proven written and oral communication skills; Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Internet; Must be comfortable working with diverse populations, including high risk and homeless households; Flexibility to work irregular hours typical of a "2nd shift," including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Essential Functions:

Work with OAEH staff on campaigns to identify and recruit new Crisis Cold Weather Shelter sites and overnight volunteers; Coordinate and facilitate training sessions for volunteers; Coordinate calendars to ensure volunteer coverage on nights Crisis Cold Weather Shelters are open; Serve as primary point of contact for shelter leadership for volunteer-related needs and issues; Provide daily updates regarding Crisis Cold Weather Shelter openings and closings during Crisis Cold Weather Shelter season; Maintain and report on volunteer and guest records as requested; Coordinate with Crisis Cold Weather Shelter leadership to ensure as many individuals seeking shelter as possible are able to access shelter; Coordinate with Crisis Cold Weather Shelter leadership and other partners on transportation logistics; Assist with evening staffing prior to Crisis Cold Weather Shelters opening at night; Treat all guests, volunteers, and partners with kindness and respect; Participates in CPO's resource development/fundraising activities; Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Structure:

The Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Homeless Services.

Position Clarification:

The position of Crisis Cold Weather Shelter Specialist is a grant-funded position and based on funding availability. The job duties are subject to change, based on funding requirements. This is an exempt, full-time position. Grant funding dictates the pay range for this position. CPO receives federal grants and contracts and therefore must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
