Job Overview We are seeking a motivated Water Meter GPS Inspector to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for inspecting, locating, and recording water meters using GPS technology across various outdoor environments. Your expertise will ensure accurate mapping and maintenance of water infrastructure, supporting our mission to conserve water resources and improve service reliability. Duties Conduct field inspections of water meters, utilizing GPS devices to accurately record their locations. Perform utility locating tasks to identify underground water infrastructure using specialized equipment. Repair or replace faulty meters and related equipment, ensuring proper functionality. Use handheld meter readers and manual reading techniques to collect data efficiently. Follow safety protocols rigorously during outdoor work, including heavy lifting, climbing, and manual handling. Operate power tools, hand tools, bucket trucks, and cabling equipment safely for maintenance tasks. Document all inspections, repairs, and readings meticulously in digital systems for accurate records. Skills Strong knowledge of utility locating methods and equipment repair techniques. Experience working with electrical systems, low voltage wiring, and NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Proficiency with handheld meter readers and reading devices for data collection. Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools. Ability to perform heavy lifting, climbing, walking extensive distances outdoors, and manual handling safely. Familiarity with DOT regulations, safety protocols, and outdoor work environments in the utilities sector. Basic math skills for data analysis and measurement calculations. Experience working in the energy & utilities sector with a focus on maintenance, repair & operations (MRO). Valid driver's license with clean driving record; comfortable operating a bucket truck or similar equipment. Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with clients during inspections or repairs.
