Principal Scientist/Group Leader - Granules Technology Posted on May 12, 2025 by JMJ Phillip We are seeking a driven, talented, and experienced Principal Scientist/Group Leader to lead R D efforts in granules technology. This role oversees a broad portfolio of granule projects, including innovation, sustainability initiatives, raw material qualification, color control, and operational support for both granule and shingle manufacturing plants. The position involves industrializing new technologies, fostering lab safety culture, and growing a high-performing team to support evolving business needs. Position Responsibilities Project & Portfolio Management Manage multiple R D projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, budgets, and documentation meet business and customer requirements. Create project plans, technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders and management. Apply statistical tools and data analysis to draw conclusions and support innovations. Team Leadership & Development Lead and mentor a group of engineers and technicians. Define tasks, milestones, and technical approaches while guiding project execution. Build a safety-first culture in the laboratory and across the research environment. Strategic Business Support Execute strategic assignments tied to plant technology, business development, and equipment optimization. Translate technical insights into scalable, industrialized solutions for use in granule and shingle production lines. Technology Implementation Drive new technologies to full-scale industrialization, with a focus on process reliability, scalability, and sustainability. Support manufacturing through technical guidance and process improvements. Prerequisites Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years of experience, or Ph.D. with 6+ years of experience in a relevant technical leadership role. Proven background in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, or Mining Engineering.

Demonstrated expertise in:

Ceramics, glass, or mining-related materials Surface science and materials characterization Statistical analysis and data interpretation Intellectual property, patents, and technical documentation Strong experience in product industrialization and commercialization. Leadership experience managing large, cross-functional projects and R D portfolios.
