Job Description

Posting Details The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) works to encourage all New Mexicans to pursue a college education by making it more accessible and affordable. The department holds a statewide vision for higher education in which New Mexicans have the ability to achieve the highest level of education they desire, are ensured a seamless educational experience from pre-school through college, can afford to attend one of New Mexico's fine institutions and will succeed once enrolled, and will be prepared to participate in New Mexico's high wage workforce.

Why does the job exist? This position supports the New Mexico Higher Education Department's Institutional Finance Division by performing audits, reviews, and verifications of Federal and State funds to higher education institutions. How does it get done?
Duties for this position include:
Performing audits of higher education institutions and reporting on findings Providing analysis of higher education institutions fiscal health Coordinating site visits, developing agendas, and communicating with all stakeholders Compiling, analyzing, and reporting quarterly on federal flow thru funding Assisting the division during the legislative session with presentations, providing data and bill analysis Who are the customers? Stakeholders include Higher Education Department leadership and staff, legislative branch, other executive agencies, and higher education institutions Ideal Candidate Stakeholders include Higher Education Department leadership and staff, legislative branch, other executive agencies, and higher education institutions Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience directly related to the position in research, statistics, computer science, data analysis, accounting, auditing, finance, economics, business, public administration, budgeting, management, and/or systems analysis or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
