Duties Help The duties may include, but are not limited to: Plans, organizes, coordines, and executes complex WS programs within a work unit (i.e., district) designed to efficiently, effectively, and safely reduce wildlife damage. Conducts continuing reviews and evaluions of projects and activities within the work unit to determine effectiveness and compliance with required opering procedures. Directs and oversees the work unit's Federal and, where applicable, cooperive employees (collaborors), possibly including subordine supervisors, administrive staff, and wildlife biologists. Establishes and adjusts short-term and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. In consultion with the supervisor, determines required staffing levels and organizional structure in relion to budgets and project needs. Collabores, develops and inities new, revised, or experimental techniques for wildlife damage management operions in the work unit. Degree:
biological science th included: At least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and At least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebre zoology, vertebre zoology, comparive anomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where approprie.); and At least 9 semester hours in botany or the reled plant sciences. OR Combinion of educion and experience: equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., least 30 semester hours), with least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or reled plant science, as shown above, plus approprie experience or additional educion.
FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) th may have been obtained in the prive or public (local, county, ste, Federal) sectors which demonstres: Reviewing and managing workload of lower graded employees, to ensure full mission coverage, addressing staffing needs and promptly addressing problemic situions Experience in wildlife damage management operions and research to conduct program activities and provide recommendions to resolve controversial problems. Assisting in the formulion of budget estimes and administering expenditures, for a complex multi-faceted program consisting of federal and coopering funded budgets. Coordining efforts and working with managers of other federal agencies and ste and local agencies in reaching wildlife damage management program goals.
