This is a position which benefits from an equine science degree as well as a working knowledge of horses, general maintenance skills and solid communication skills.

Expectations include:
Horse care
first aid, overall health
feeding, administer medications, manage turnouts, keep horses in good physical condition, manage workload of horses and maintain all horse vet records, etc. Boarders
deal with all boarder issues, constant communication with them and friendly positive interaction, resolve any barn issues, etc. Barn maintenance
stalls, general overall upkeep
maintain indoor arena to excellent riding conditions, overall barn cleanliness, maintain outdoor arena to specifications and paddocks, manage all aspects of the upkeep of the grounds, etc. Fiscal Responsibility
work with Accountant to manage barn in a fiscally responsible manner. Participate in annual budget preparations, provide weekly/monthly updates on barn activity and report on variances to budget. Member of management team
participate in meetings to discuss barn strategies, operating challenges and goals, identifying revenue streams, brainstorming solutions, etc. Provide show support
maintain jumps, help on show days, etc. Run day-to-day operations of the barn
responsible for staff schedule, supervision of all barn staff (they report to the barn manager) & approval of timecards, ensure all barn chores are completed, order all necessary items related to the day-to-day farm activities, deliver paperwork to office 2x/week (M & F), daily chores. Will need to be available on an emergency basis and fill gaps in the schedule. Barn promotion & sales
maintain FB page and help to update website, create positive atmosphere to increase boarders at the facility Provide assistance with lesson program
potentially on days when instructors are at shows.
Work closely with instructors & trainers to promote positive environment for students and horses. This position will also require close working relationship with barn owner and coordination of care for the personal animals of the owner in the owner's absence.
Additional Responsibilities include:
Daily upkeep and maintenance of barns, stalls and grounds Keeping stable area tidy, sweeping, raking and watering Adhering to feeding, cleaning and supplement schedules Holding horses for vet and farrier Daily exercise of animals Administering of prescribed medication and general first aid Facility maintenance and fixes Grooming & bathing of animals Monitoring horses for health and soundness Help with problem animals
