Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule The VA Long Beach Healthcare System is seeking full-time Staff Psychologists to join its Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). This is an excellent opportunity to provide comprehensive behavioral health care to Veterans in a diverse, collaborative, and mission-driven setting. Psychologists will work as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, and other health care professionals. The program serves a broad and diverse Veteran population with a wide spectrum of clinical needs and presentations. Position Highlights Provide evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for Veterans in an outpatient behavioral health setting. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of approximately 30-40 social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, and other clinical professionals. Participate in treatment planning, clinical consultation, care coordination, and team-based case management. Provide services through a combination of in-person care, telework, and telehealth. Participate in one day per week of Open Access services. No call responsibilities. Join a robust, three-level training program with teaching and mentorship opportunities. Participate in internal training activities and support the development of future behavioral health professionals. Opportunities for research and academic activities may be available. Four full-time positions are available as part of program expansion. Hybrid Schedule Hybrid work model with a combination of onsite care, telework, and telehealth. Two days per week onsite, with additional work arrangements based on clinical and program needs. Flexible full-time schedule, including a traditional five-day schedule or a compressed four-day workweek. Typical schedule is approximately 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; later start times may be available. Telehealth is incorporated into the position. Qualifications Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited graduate program. Completion of an APA-accredited internship program. Eligibility for licensure as a psychologist; candidates must meet VA requirements for a full, current, and unrestricted psychology license. Current trainees and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Strong clinical assessment, psychotherapy, consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills. Experience serving diverse populations and managing a broad range of behavioral health concerns is preferred. Approximately 50-55 days of paid time off per year, including annual leave, sick leave, federal holidays, and possible paid absence for continuing education. Traditional federal pension after five years of vesting, plus the Thrift Savings Plan with up to 5% VA contributions. Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term-care insurance options; many programs may continue into retirement. One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory may be used for VA employment. Continuing-education support may be available. Liability protection, including tail coverage, is provided at no cost. No physician employment contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
