NCC CREDENTIAL THROUGH NBCC REQUIRED

Heart-Centered Health is seeking an experienced Mindfulness Coach with an active National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential to join an integrated Human Performance team supporting U.S. Air Force personnel. This is a unique opportunity to take mindfulness, resilience, and cognitive-performance strategies out of the abstract and apply them in a real-world environment. You'll work with Airmen operating in settings where attention, stress regulation, decision-making, recovery, fatigue management, focus, and the ability to stay composed under pressure all matter. This is not a traditional therapy caseload and it is not a psychotherapy position. Instead, you'll use evidence-based mindfulness, resilience, and cognitive-performance techniques to help Airmen perform effectively, recover well, manage stress, remain focused, and develop tools they can actually use in demanding environments. You'll work alongside an Athletic Trainer and Functional Strength Coach as part of a genuinely integrated Human Performance team. What You'll Do Your work may include: Developing and facilitating mindfulness, stress-management, resilience, and cognitive-performance programming. Teaching practical strategies to improve attention, focus, emotional regulation, recovery, and decision-making under pressure. Helping Airmen manage fatigue and sustain performance during high-tempo operations. Conducting Human Performance evaluations and identifying appropriate coaching strategies. Working with both individuals and groups. Periodically embedding with Air Force squadrons to better understand their environment, culture, and operational demands. Creating practical techniques Airmen can use during deployments, travel, field exercises, and austere environments. Collaborating with Athletic Training and Strength & Conditioning professionals to address performance from a whole-person perspective. Providing education around sleep, recovery, resilience, stress, focus, and sustainable performance. Tracking activities and required Human Performance outcomes. Adapting your approach to different personalities, occupations, mission demands, and environments. This is a coaching and Human Performance position . Formal behavioral-health diagnosis, psychotherapy, and clinical treatment remain within the military medical and behavioral-health system.

Required Qualifications Applicants must have:

Active National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Bachelor's or master's degree in Psychology or Counseling . Minimum two years of relevant professional experience . Knowledge of mindfulness, resilience, stress management, recovery, attention control, cognitive performance, or related Human Performance concepts. Strong communication and group-facilitation skills. Ability to translate evidence-based concepts into practical techniques people can actually use. Comfort working with physically active adults in a performance-oriented environment. Ability to collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary Human Performance team. U.S. citizenship. Ability to successfully complete required installation background and access screening. Ability to work primarily during the standard military duty day, with occasional schedule flexibility based on mission needs. Experience with military, first-responder, tactical, athletic, high-performance, trauma-informed, emergency-response, or other high-stress populations is particularly valuable, but prior military experience is not required . Applicants who do not currently hold an active NCC credential will not meet the qualification requirements for this position. Why This Role Is Different Many professionals with counseling, mindfulness, resilience, and performance backgrounds build careers across private clients, workshops, part-time programs, contract assignments, and multiple employers.

This position offers something different:

consistent full-time work, one primary professional home, a dedicated population, an integrated Human Performance team, and the opportunity to help shape a program. There are objectives to meet, but this isn't about reading from a script. We're looking for someone who understands people. Someone who can walk into a room of Airmen who may initially be skeptical of the word "mindfulness," earn their credibility, and turn the concept into something practical: Better concentration. Better recovery. Better stress regulation. Clearer decision-making. Greater resilience. You will have room to bring your own professional voice, experience, creativity, and strengths to the work. About Heart-Centered Health Heart-Centered Health is a nurse-led healthcare and human performance organization focused on helping people thrive in demanding environments. Our work brings together health, performance, resilience, education, and relationship-centered support to improve both individual well-being and operational readiness. We believe the strongest Human Performance programs address the whole person—physical capacity, recovery, resilience, focus, mental performance, and the environments in which people are expected to perform. Our teams are given clear objectives while also being trusted to bring their professional experience, creativity, and judgment to the work.
