Summary The Academic Guidance Specialist supports students in achieving their academic goals by providing personalized academic planning, course selection guidance, and monitoring student progress. The specialist collaborates closely with students, parents, faculty, and administration to ensure students stay on track for graduation and post-secondary success. Responsibilities Provide academic advising to students on course selection, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning Review and evaluate student academic records to ensure proper placement and progress Monitor academic performance and collaborate with teachers to identify students in need of academic intervention or support Maintain up-to-date knowledge of school curriculum, academic policies, and educational pathways (e.g., AP, dual enrollment, vocational programs) Coordinate and lead academic advising meetings with students and parents Assist students in setting academic goals and developing plans to achieve them Facilitate informational sessions related to academic planning, college readiness, and academic probation policies Collaborate with counseling staff to support students' academic, social-emotional, and career development Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with school and district policies Support the school's mission of academic excellence and student success Requirements Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field (Master's preferred) Prior experience in academic advising, student counseling, or teaching preferred Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Knowledge of academic planning tools, transcript evaluation, and student information systems Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, families, and staff Familiarity with high school graduation requirements and college admission standards If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and want to be part of a dedicated team at South Hills Academy, we invite you to apply today!
