Long Term Substitute: School Adjustment Counselor (0.80 FTE)

Job Description

Job Description Please note this is a long term substitute position covering a leave of absence starting immediately. The School Adjustment Counselor's job is to provide, as a member of the Pupil Personnel Services department, a comprehensive counseling program for students and specifically to provide activities to meet the needs of their assigned caseload, to consult with teachers, other staff, and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students, and to provide support to other schools during and after crisis situations. The Adjustment Counselor is expected to help plan, organize and deliver the school/district counseling program, participate in the assessment of social and emotional functioning, consult, organize, and assist with individual planning interventions in collaboration with partners (e.g., teachers, parents, outside agencies), and provide responsive services in consultation with administrators, teachers and student support services, through referrals to external organizations/agencies. The Adjustment Counselor reports directly to the Building Principal or, if so directed by the Principal, to an Assistant Principal, and to the Administrator of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services for the purpose of district program coordination. Requirements At least two (2) years of relevant experience preferred Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university Compensation $314.40 per day 0.80 FTE schedule: full days Tuesday through Friday Employment Eligibility Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
