Job Description
Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects Support teachers with classroom management and lesson implementation Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and attendance Monitor and track student progress and outcomes Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student needs Assist with planning and leading after-school or enrichment programs Participate in school-wide events and initiatives that promote a positive climate Attend City Year training, coaching, and professional development sessions Collaborate with a diverse team of AmeriCorps members to meet service goals Model professionalism, inclusivity, and a commitment to social justice in the school community Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Youth mentoring Data tracking and documentation Communication with educators and families Teamwork and collaboration Time management and reliability Basic computer and office software skills Cultural competency and DEI awareness Program and activity facilitation Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (AmeriCorps eligibility) Successfully pass criminal background checks Ability to commit to a full-time 10-12 month AmeriCorps service term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred) Bilingual skills (preferred)
