Job Description
Kate Furbish Elementary School is a large, nature-based and nurturing learning community•serving students from PreK through Grade 2 in Brunswick, Maine. We are committed to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in every child. Our staff is passionate about early childhood development and dedicated to creating an inclusive and joyful classroom experience. We proudly implement the Maine Department of Education's For ME program in all of our classrooms, which provide rich, developmentally appropriate learning experiences designed to support whole-child growth. Intentional play is an integral part of our day.
Kate Furbish Elementary School is searching for a long term substitute school counselor to work with our SEL team to support kindergarten to grade two students and staff. This position will begin in late August, 2026 and continue until December 22, 2026.
Desired candidates will:
Have experience supporting social-emotional needs of young children
Respond collaboratively and flexibly to changing student and school needs
Use a collaborative approach to problem solving in a fast-paced environment
Regularly supervise students in the school environment
Work collaboratively with the Social Emotional Learning Team on a regular basis
Perform other related tasks and assume other duties as the Principal may assign from time to time Please electronically submit a completed application by July 30th.
