Job Description

Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled Guidance Counselor to support students in grades 6-8. This full-time, contract role is ideal for professionals passionate about making a positive difference in a middle school environment. Candidates will work 33.75 hours per week, providing critical counseling services and fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for young adolescents.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Previous experience as a School Counselor, Counselor, or Guidance Counselor in an educational setting Valid Maine School Counseling Certification with Endorsement 075 (required) Strong communication and interpersonal skills suited for middle school students Ability to support students' academic, emotional, and social development Comfort collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct counseling services to 6th-8th grade students Provide guidance on academic planning, social challenges, and personal issues Facilitate small groups and individual sessions as needed Implement school-wide programs to promote student well-being and school culture Consult regularly with educators and parents/guardians to address student needs Participate in meetings, case conferences, and individual education plan (IEP) development Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with requirements Candidates should be prepared to start on 8/31/26. While the official start date is 8/31, attending orientation and safety sessions from 8/24 to 8/28 is highly encouraged and will provide a helpful introduction to the school community, though it is not mandatory.
