HS Principal Location :
New Buffalo Secondary Building (MS/HS 6-12)
Schedule :
200.5 School days: August thru
June Primary Purpose :
Advocate for all students and coordinate the secondary At-Risk program of services for students in at-risk situations (attendance, grades). Collaborate closely with secondary administrators, social worker, counselor, school resource officers, teachers, and students' families.
Required Education :
Bachelor's degree or higher
Preferred Education :
Degree or equivalent education or training in one or more of the following: behavior specialist, counseling, psychology, social work, teaching, youth criminal justice, etc.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
Ability to form highly-developed interpersonal relationships with at-risk students and leverage the relationships for academic success. Background with at-risk students in a school setting or other educational environment Experience as a teacher or other professional in a school setting Ability to interpret data Ability to organize and coordinate secondary at-risk program Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Specific Tasks:
Lead weekly At-Risk meetings with HS/MS administrators, social worker, counselors Weekly check-ins with At-Risk students Compile and submit annual At-Risk report Home visits as needed Participate in construction and implementation of Behavior Plans, PBIS plans of support, 504 accommodations, etc. Assist with facilitating 6-12 State testing Support regular attendance of students through partnerships with community organizations including Berrien County truancy department, local law enforcement, families of students, etc. Frequent attendance and supervision of extracurricular activities, as assigned by administrators Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and Board policy Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
