Job Description
Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring to students during and after school Support teachers with classroom management, engagement strategies, and instructional activities Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, including goal setting and self-confidence Track and report student progress using established data and documentation tools Assist in planning and leading after-school programs, clubs, and enrichment activities Foster positive, inclusive school climate through relationship-building with students and staff Participate in regular training, coaching, and professional development sessions Collaborate with a diverse team of AmeriCorps members to meet school and student goals Engage families and community partners in supporting student success when appropriate Uphold City Year and AmeriCorps service standards, policies, and professionalism Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Youth mentoring and counseling Data entry and progress monitoring Basic educational technology (e.g., Google Workspace, learning platforms) Communication and active listening Conflict resolution and de-escalation Time management and organization Culturally responsive practices Team collaboration Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Commitment to full-time service for the entire program term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred) Bilingual skills (preferred, depending on school community)
