Job Description

Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects during and after school Support teachers with classroom management and instructional activities Track and document student progress, attendance, and engagement Build positive, mentoring relationships with students to support social-emotional growth Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year partners about student needs Help plan and lead school-wide events and initiatives that promote a positive school climate Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Collaborate with a diverse service team to meet school and student goals Engage families and community partners in supporting student success Uphold City Year and AmeriCorps service standards and policies Tutoring and academic support in core subjects Classroom support and basic instructional strategies Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Collaboration and teamwork in diverse groups Conflict resolution and de-escalation basics Cultural competency and sensitivity Basic technology skills (email, spreadsheets, online learning tools) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and local school district Commitment to a full-time 11-month AmeriCorps service term Demonstrated interest in youth development, education, or social justice
