Job Description

Overview The School Counselor plays a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development within the educational environment. This position involves working closely with students, parents, and faculty to foster a positive school climate and facilitate student success. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, approachable, and dedicated to promoting the well-being of all students while addressing their diverse needs. This position is in collaboration with 2 other full-time counselors for a total population of approximately 65 students. Duties Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, social, and personal issues. Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop strategies for behavior management and conflict resolution. Conduct academic advising sessions to help students set educational goals and plan for their future. Implement programs that promote cultural diversity counseling and inclusivity within the school community. Act as a liaison between students and child protective services when necessary to ensure child welfare. Facilitate workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, peer relationships, and self-esteem. Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress while ensuring confidentiality. Engage with parents to discuss student concerns and collaborate on solutions. Skills Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Experience in individual group counseling techniques tailored to diverse student populations. Knowledge of child protective services processes and child welfare regulations. Ability to manage conflicts effectively while promoting a safe learning environment. Familiarity with behavior management strategies that support positive student behavior. Understanding of cultural diversity counseling practices to address the needs of all students. Experience in academic advising to guide students in their educational journeys. Background in Christian counseling is a plus but not required. This position requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students.
