Job Description

Category Assistive Technology Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role as an Assistive Technology Specialist, working on a contract basis to support profoundly orthopedically impaired students. This opportunity calls for a professional with direct expertise in assistive technology, ready to make a real impact by helping students access the medical technology they need for success. This position requires in-person engagement near Fremont, CA, and is structured for 2 days per week, though the work could feasibly be completed in just one day, offering valuable flexibility. Your expertise will be essential for case-by-case evaluations, collaborating with staff, and recommending individualized solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
Certification in Assistive Technology (national certification not required, but must hold relevant certification beyond completing CEUs) Strong background in assessing and implementing assistive, adaptive, or medical technology for students with profound orthopedic impairments Excellent communication, consultative, and documentation skills Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams within educational or pediatric settings Ability to adapt quickly and thoughtfully to individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-person assessments to determine appropriate assistive technology for students with significant physical impairments Consult with classroom staff, therapists, and families to ensure optimal support and integration of medical technology Create and deliver training and resources regarding the effective use of assistive technology devices Support the documentation process and comply with education and medical guidelines Remain current on advancements in assistive technology and best practices in the field Make an immediate difference by helping students find greater independence and access to learning.
