Who We Serve North Bay Regional Center provides advocacy, services, support and care coordination to children and adults diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. North Bay Regional Center serves over 13,000 people living within the geographic boundaries of Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. Guided by our NBRC Mission and Values to assist people with developmental disabilities to obtain the services and support needed to live as others do in the community, NBRC has established Strategic Goals to guide our efforts in focused areas: employment, independence, community access and family supports. DEFINITION

Under the general direction of the Self-Determination Supervisor , the Participant Choice Coordinator (PCC) is responsible for the expansion of Participant Directed services and the Self-Determination Program (SDP).

NATURE OF WORK

Under the general direction of the Self-Determination Supervisor, the Participant Choice Coordinator will be considered a subject matter expert and will act as a support system to all case management staff. This position provides training and education to internal staff and NBRC participants and families and assists individuals and families to access these services in a timely manner. This position will work closely with the Self-Determination Program Supervisor to identify and eliminate barriers to these choice-driven services and work collaboratively to ensure best practices are implemented within NBRC. This position will also assist with the creation of the Self Determination budget and Spending Plan.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Provide referrals to Self-Determination Orientation Work closely with Case Management to develop the Self-Determination Budget Review Spending Plan to assure alignment with applicable laws, regulations and directives Organize and maintain tracking system SDP referrals and enrollments Entering information into database Coordinate meetings for new participants and renewals to meet timelines Participate in outreach events Ongoing communication with Case Management, Fiscal, SDP participants, families, Independent Facilitators (IF) and Financial Management Services (FMS)

Requirements:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and at least two years' experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities; regional center experience strongly preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred. Minimum experience qualifications may be waived depending on the agency's need for specialized skills (such as language abilities). Minimum education experience requirements will not be waived.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Expertise regarding the Principals of Self-Determination and its history within the regional center system. Confident speaker able to communicate complex information to various populations. Knowledge and ability to practice Person Centered Thinking tools. Knowledge, fluency and ability to explain Participant Choice services and SDP guidelines and regulations to others. Ability to create and administer training and information regarding Participant Choice services and SDP. Knowledge and ability to understand and explain expenditure reports to NBRC staff, NBRC participants and families and create accurate and complete Self Determination budgets. Knowledge and ability to facilitate discussion and understanding of the Self Determination Spending Plan, including identification of resources and funds to be spent on each service. Excellent oral and written presentation skills. Ability to maintain case records in a clear and concise manner. Ability to develop standard business communications, using proper grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to convey complex information and ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrates cultural awareness and sensitivity and work effectively with culturally diverse populations. Basic familiarity with MS Word®, MS Excel®, MS PowerPoint®, MS Outlook® or similar software applications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to provide personal automobile transportation, or access to another form of reliable transportation, during and after working hours. Provide minimum automobile liability insurance as required by California Law. Ability to regularly travel to all NBRC offices within catchment area to provide employee training and support to individuals served, as needed. If operating own vehicle, must provide minimum automobile liability insurance as required by California Law. Flexibility in work hours is required to meet the needs of the regional center constituency. This position will be primarily based in the office; however, a hybrid work arrangement may also be available. Fluency in a language in addition to English is desirable and may be required. A note regarding NBRC's expectations regarding remote, hybrid, and home-based work… All employment at NBRC requires face-to-face, in-person interactions with NBRC clients, family members, community, and co-workers. Candidates for employment must live within commute distance to their preferred NBRC office, as well as the geographical location of their assigned clients. While 100% remote work is not available to NBRC employees, a hybrid work arrangement with a blend of in-office and home-based work may be available for new employees after successfully demonstrating achievement of performance expectations following at least 3 months of in-office work.
