Job Description
This position develops and implements comprehensive post-secondary plans for students, coordinating work-based learning, internships, educational pathways, and college advising at Athol High School. The advisor will facilitate college & career readiness, provide academic counseling, and strengthen community partnerships to ensure students are prepared for college and careers, aligning with state educational frameworks.
Position Summary:
The College and Career Advisor serves under the College and Career Readiness Program Coordinator in a vital role in preparing students for post-secondary success by bridging academic preparation with career readiness. This role focuses on personalized advising, facilitating work-based learning opportunities, managing internship programs, and guiding students through college applications and workforce entry.
Key Responsibilities:

Work-Based Learning & Internships:
Develop and maintain systems, structures and partnerships with local businesses to secure internships, job shadowing, and cooperative education opportunities for students.

Academic Counseling:
Advise students on course selections related to career pathways and academic planning for graduation.
•
Career Exploration:
Administer and interpret career interest inventories to help students explore career options.
•
Program Management:
Organize career fairs, industry speaker series, and post-secondary planning workshops.
•
Workforce Readiness:
Support Vision of the Graduate skills, knowledge and mindset activities throughout the school
community.

College Advising:
Guide students on college selection, application processes, essays, and financial aid (FAFSA/CSS Profile).
