Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated JOBS Specialist (Job Opportunities & Basic Skills) to empower individuals in their pursuit of meaningful employment and personal growth. This position will serve eligible individuals receiving cash assistance through referrals from Oregon Department of Human Services Self-Sufficiency Program. The JOBS specialist position is an integral part of the JOBS program team, responsible for delivering work readiness and life skills workshops that improve the soft and hard skills of program participants. This role requires that you work with program leadership to evaluate the success of job readiness and other program-related workshops. You will also be asked to participate in workshop content development, recommend workshop content improvements, and coordinate workshops with program and community partners. Bilingual (Spanish) for r translation and interpretation preferred. Responsibilities Facilitate workshops and orientations for JOBS program participants. Explain program rights, benefits, responsibilities, and requirements. Assess participants' needs and barriers and develop realistic employment goals and action plans. Provide career counseling, motivational interviewing, and ongoing employment support. Assist with resumes, cover letters, job applications, interview preparation, and job-search strategies. Develop and maintain work sites with nonprofit and for-profit organizations to provide participants with work experience. Maintain accurate case records, documentation, and statistical data while ensuring confidentiality. Maintain current knowledge of program policies, community resources, Oregon Department of Human Services services, and WorkSource Oregon classes. Approach participants with compassion, respect, and an open mind. Provide coaching on workplace expectations, social skills, and communication techniques. Connect clients with community resources, including addiction counseling, social services, and disability support programs. Maintain detailed documentation of client progress, service plans, and outcomes. Collaborate with employers, community organizations, and culturally diverse communities to expand employment opportunities for underserved populations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and eighteen (18) months of full-time experience that exhibits the candidate's ability to effectively perform the duties and tasks related to this position, or any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential duties of the position. Knowledge of the communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources. Ability to communicate with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, and database software in performing work assignments. Ability to identify socioeconomic, physical, mental, behavioral, cultural, language, and other barriers to employment. Ability to develop an approach to mitigate/reduce potential and real barriers to program participation. Ability to apply motivational techniques. Ability to work well in teams and independently. Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and have high level of organization Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Must pass a criminal history background investigation however, a conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from this position. Must be willing to use own vehicle on occasion; mileage reimbursement will be provided. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record is required. Bilingual for Spanish interpretation and translation is preferred but not required.

Pay:

$24.95 - $31.98 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
