Job Description
Job Summary W.A.Y.S Homecare & Health Agency is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Personal Assistant (PA) to provide individualized support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Personal Assistant will help clients complete daily activities, participate in their communities, maintain their homes, and work toward greater independence. Services are individualized based on each client's needs, abilities, preferences, and goals. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and personal care as needed, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene. Qualifications Provide assistance and supervision with meals, snacks, and meal preparation. Assist with medication reminders and other non-medical supports according to the client's care plan. Support clients with developing and maintaining daily routines. Assist clients with household tasks, including making beds, light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, and maintaining their personal living areas. Encourage clients to participate in household responsibilities to promote independence and development of daily living skills. Assist clients with grocery shopping, errands, and other essential activities. Support clients with community integration, including recreational activities, appointments, shopping, social activities, and other community outings. Provide transportation or accompany clients using public/private transportation when required. Assist clients with scheduling and attending medical and other appointments. Support clients with money management, budgeting, and purchasing skills when identified in their service plan. Promote safety awareness in the home and community. Provide companionship, emotional support, encouragement, and meaningful engagement. Encourage clients to make choices and exercise their rights, independence, and autonomy. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in caregiving roles is highly desirable. Prior experience caring for children across different age groups, including infants, preschoolers, and elementary school-age children. Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training is preferred. Strong communication skills to foster effective parent interaction and team collaboration. Ability to plan age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development. Familiarity with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare is essential. Previous experience in daycare settings, babysitting, nannying, or youth programs teaching is advantageous.
