Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide high-quality care and support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private residences. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care and a strong understanding of the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, and Alzheimer's. This role involves assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting their independence. Responsibilities Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive environment. Monitor and record vital signs as needed, reporting any changes in health status to the supervising nurse or caregiver. Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document accordingly. Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Maintain cleanliness and organization in resident living areas, ensuring a safe environment. Engage residents in social activities that promote cognitive stimulation and well-being. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs. Provide support for behavior management strategies when required for residents with special needs. Experience Previous experience in caregiving or personal care roles is preferred, particularly in settings such as retirement homes, group homes, or long-term care facilities. Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation purposes is advantageous. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or memory care needs is highly desirable. A valid driver's license may be required for positions involving transportation of residents.
