Because we are a smaller community, our residents receive personalized care and our employees have the opportunity to truly get to know the people they care for. We are looking for an experienced Direct Care Worker or CNA who is dependable, compassionate, team-oriented, and genuinely enjoys working with older adults. The Position We are currently hiring for Full-Time 1st Shift Direct Care Worker / CNA positions. Our caregivers play an important role in creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable home for our residents.
Responsibilities include:
Providing compassionate, respectful, and individualized care to residents Assisting residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene Assisting with mobility, transfers, and positioning Providing meal assistance and encouraging proper nutrition and hydration Following individual resident care plans and safety procedures Assisting with medication administration as permitted and trained Monitoring residents and reporting changes in condition or behavior Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable resident environment Supporting residents with activities and daily routines Protecting resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality Following all resident rights and facility policies Completing required documentation and reporting Working cooperatively with coworkers and management Responding appropriately to emergencies and following emergency procedures Treating residents, families, coworkers, and visitors with professionalism and respect What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Genuinely enjoys caring for seniors Is compassionate, patient, and respectful Is dependable and takes attendance seriously Has a positive attitude Works well as part of a team Communicates effectively with coworkers and management Is willing to help wherever needed Can accept direction and constructive feedback Takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do Understands the importance of resident dignity and privacy Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations Takes pride in keeping residents and their environment clean and comfortable Is willing to work as part of a team—not just complete assigned tasks Most importantly: We are looking for the right person, not just the right résumé. Experience matters, but attitude, reliability, compassion, and willingness to work as part of our team are equally important.
QualificationsRequired:
Minimum 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent Previous personal care/caregiver experience required Ability to successfully complete required background checks Negative TB test as required CPR & First Aid certification Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions Ability to maintain resident confidentiality Ability to safely perform required physical duties
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and squat Assist residents with mobility and transfers Lift and carry up to 30 pounds Respond quickly to resident needs and emergencies Perform personal care tasks as required Required Knowledge & Competencies Employees must demonstrate competency in areas including: Personal care and activities of daily living Resident rights and dignity Medication administration, as applicable to the position Confidentiality and privacy Nutrition and food safety Reporting requirements Fire prevention and emergency procedures Facility safety plans Resident supervision and protection Infection prevention and safety practices Communication and documentation Compassionate resident care All employees are expected to follow Auburn Heights Senior Care policies, procedures, training requirements, and applicable Michigan Adult Foster Care regulations. Schedule Requirements Full-Time | 1st Shift Because we provide care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week , flexibility is an important part of this position. Applicants must be willing and able to work: Weekends Holidays Required/mandatory shifts when needed Scheduled shifts reliably and consistently Reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
