Job Description

Overview Join our compassionate team as a Direct Care Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring personalized support and care. In this vital role, you will provide assistance with daily living activities, promote independence, and foster a safe, respectful environment for residents across various care settings. Your dedication will help enhance quality of life for those with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those experiencing cognitive challenges such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility support Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability Support medication administration following prescribed protocols and assist with medication reminders Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts safely to transfer residents while preventing injury Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and assist residents during mealtimes Engage residents through social activities, conversation, and recreational programs to promote mental well-being Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control procedures Document care activities accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and communicate effectively with team members about resident needs Follow safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR certification standards, and safe patient lifting practices when responding to emergencies or assisting residents Requirements Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly desirable Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's support strategies, and memory care techniques Ability to assist with ADLs and provide personal care with compassion and professionalism Familiarity with vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and basic first aid/CPR certification required or obtainable upon hire Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is preferred Valid driver's license for driving duties related to resident outings or errands; experience operating standard passenger cars required Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely throughout shifts Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration Commitment to maintaining a respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence for all residents Join us in delivering exceptional care that transforms lives!
