Job Description

Job Overview Valley Beit Midrash (a global center for learning and action) is a forward-thinking, pluralistic not-for-profit organization rooted in Jewish ethics that is committed to improving lives in our communities through Torah learning, social action, and leadership development. We are looking for an Outreach Coordinator to support our social action initiative, Arizona Jews for Justice (AJJ). AJJ works to support vulnerable people in our community and uplift populations such as people experiencing homelessness, refugees and asylum seekers. Duties
  • Hand out life-saving supplies such as food, water, clothing and other necessities to people living in the streets
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and volunteers
  • Support volunteer events, workshops, and presentations to educate the community on relevant topics and assemble supplies
  • Shop for supplies and pickup donations from community partners
  • Write daily reports, including pictures, that detail the number of people served and stories of impact
  • Assist people by connecting them with appropriate resources such as shelters and addiction services
  • Drive a converted school bus to hand out supplies in the streets and perform administrative duties at the office
  • Represent AJJ in activist spaces such as rallies and protests Qualifications
  • Past experience working with vulnerable populations and a strong comfort level with this type of work
  • Empathetic presence and kind and understanding nature
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, or related areas is advantageous
  • Must have a valid driver's license and feel comfortable driving a bus (no special license required)
  • Ability to lift at least approximately 30 lbs and comfortable working outdoors
