Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Prevention and Communication to lead our organization's efforts in safeguarding our community through innovative prevention initiatives and impactful communication strategies. This role is vital in providing information and education regarding domestic and sexual violence to a wide range of community members and to raise awareness about the existence and extent of domestic and sexual violence so that the community can address its existence more effectively. Promote awareness of services available at Safe Passage. Information and education include, but is not limited to, the dissemination of material through presentations, training, written publications, such as brochures and posters, press releases, PSAs, and special events. This position routinely handles highly sensitive and/or confidential information and will represent Safe Passage in a variety of capacities. Work as an executive member and demonstrate good independent judgment, an ability to be approachable and professional, have solid problem-solving skills, an ability to handle multiple tasks, an ability to be self-motivated and well organized, and maintain strict confidentiality. Essential Functions Set annual goals for the prevention program in cooperation with Executive Director. Supervise Prevention Program Manager and Volunteer Coordinator including scheduling, support, and oversight. Organize, coordinate, and provide oversight to agency fundraisers to secure diverse revenue streams and advance the organization's mission. Develop and present program materials including professional training, community outreach campaigns, workshops, conferences, and age-appropriate school education programs. Supervise marketing specialist and community outreach including social media outreach, promotional material creation, and website. Assist Executive Director in preparing, editing, and distribution of publications for external audiences, including press releases, letters to the editor, and newsletters. Arrange public appearances, lectures, outreach events, exhibits, media outreach, and community forums to increase service awareness and promote goodwill toward the organization. Schedule outreach, community events, programs, activities and recruit staff/volunteers as needed. Perform day-to-day administrative tasks including maintaining information files, completing and processing paperwork, and ongoing outreach to community partners. Create and maintain ICASA Prevention Plan as well as collaborating with other program directors for creating and maintaining Institutional Plan. Communicate with persons outside the organization—represent the organization to clients, the public, the government, the media, and other external sources. Information can be exchanged in person, in writing, by telephone, or e-mail. Plan and supervise the development and implementation of media campaigns and programs meant to keep the public fully informed of the agency's services, mission, and accomplishments. Provide weekly/bi-weekly supervision to prevention program manager and volunteer coordinator. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with agencies and organizations interested in our mission. Collaborate with civic organizations to determine community needs and the availability of services while working to develop goals for meeting established community needs. Participate in workshops and conferences, 65-hour domestic violence and sexual assault training, and other community education as needed. Maintain all paperwork and client files in a professional manner. Complete all necessary client documentation accurately and on time and in accordance with funder's requirements. Serve on community, local, and state committees and coalitions to promote services, prevention, and professional trainings. Be informed and knowledgeable about grant requirements. Work with Supervisor and staff to ensure that all service-related requirements and expectations are met. Participate in staff meetings and supervision. Participate in trainings and webinars to further professional development.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises the Prevention Program Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This role is an Exempt, salaried position. It is a non-direct service client support position requiring the exercise of discretion and good judgment and is required to work a full-time work week, including some evenings, potential weekends, and odd hours based on agency need. Flexibility is a must. Required Education and Experience Master's degree in human service, communications, or public relations field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 2+ years of supervisory and management experience. Preferred Education and Experience Experience working with domestic violence survivors, sexual assault survivors, and in community mental health. 40 hours trained in both domestic violence and sexual assault. Public relations and public speaking experience. Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus. Work Environment/Travel While performing the duties of this job, the employee works mostly in an office environment that is quiet to moderately loud, depending on the work area. Employee is required to sit, use hands, stand, stoop, walk, talk, and listen while performing duties. General office equipment including personal computers, scanners, copiers, faxes, desk- and smartphones, and software programs. While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee will be required to drive daily or as needed to nearby locations to attend meetings. Overnight travel may be required. Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance that meets State requirements. While performing the duties of this job, the employee has the potential to encounter unpredictable clients. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing/vision. Pay:
$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
