! My Community Cares Outreach Coordinator

• The purpose of My Community Cares is to engage partners, stakeholders, and families in zip codes in which high rates of child removal and DCFS involvement occur.

Engaging with families and particularly parents within our target communities, and working with business and community leaders, our goal is to partner with them to identify community strengths and concerns, assist in addressing those concerns, building resiliency, and strengthening families. Please note that many children are being raised by family members or other adults with familial ties. This position also works to ensure that kinship families know about services and supports that are available to them. Job Description

• Travel is required!

Work within the My Community Cares on outreach and community organizing throughout the region. Work with community members, agency/ business partners, judges/ court staff, DCFS, local and State teams to implement and sustain My Community Cares in the Lafayette region. Asssist building, convening and leading coalitions and teams in various neighborhoods and areas, and in facilitating information exchange at local and State levels, where needed. Job Duties (include but not limited to)

• Outreach throughout all of the region, with priority on certain zip codes/ neighborhoods, to: Reach kinship families as well as other stakeholders who work or come into contact with kinship families to ensure knowledge of service and support (such as schools, dr offices, other state agencies, etc)
• Bring stakeholders, invested parties and families together
• Ensure families know about services provided through MCC
• Attend events, resource fairs and meetings to promote service provision
• Work with schools, state agencies, other child serving entities for smooth handoff and service collaboration
• Build relationships, teams and coalitions with community and business leaders, partners and stakeholders
• Develop services and programs based on responses from community members in target zip codes Data tracking and documentation Assist in facilitating listening groups in target zip codes Skills/ Experience Strong listening skills Compassionate Open minded/ nonjudgmental Organized Leadership skills Community organizing experience preferred Must be able to see the best in people Belief in change Belief in the value of families, however they look Positive attitude Able to work effectively with many different people Basic computer skills
